McDonald Jam Factory

McDonald Jam Factory

303 Vernon Street, Nelson, BC

1911, 1920 - Carrie. The two storey wooden structure was built in 1911 with the addition of the stone warehouse in 1920. You will note how the two foot thick granite wall serves as Vernon Street's retaining wall. Here James Albert "Long Jim" McDonald processed local area fruit into jam and shipped his product as far East as Winnipeg. Today the building is multipurpose.
