East Shore

Discover an artisan community and amazing recreational areas

Kootenay Bay, at the eastern terminus of the Kootenay Lake ferry, is the gateway to the artisan communities all along the shores of Kootenay Lake, from Crawford Bay to Wynndel. Campgrounds and resorts, general stores, golf courses, glass houses, marinas, parks, and small communities will capture interest as you journey along the scenic highway #3A.

Riondel

Just north of Kootenay Bay is the small community of Riondel. A general store, pub, summer artisan shop and 9 hole golf course are available, and the community campground overlooking Kootenay Lake is a popular day-trip and overnight destination. The Yasodhara Ashram features retreats and day visits on their peaceful and beautiful grounds.

Kootenay Bay

The eastern ferry landing is the gateway to the East Shore. You'll find Ladybug Coffee, Boccalino Restaurant, Motel & Cabins, Tara Shanti Accommodation & Retreats, and nearby camping at private facilities and Pilot Bay Provincial Park. The park is also a great spot for gentle hikes along the shoreline with rewarding lookouts along the way.

Crawford Bay

A constellation of handcrafted artisans in Crawford Bay include North Woven Broom, Barefoot Handweaving, Dog Patch Pottery, Kootenay Forge, Black Salt Cafe, The Hub Pub & Eatery, and La Gala Jewelry. Championship golf at Kokanee Springs Golf Resort, hiking, mountain biking, remote campgrounds, a winery, galleries, unique general stores and roadside attractions provide plenty to see and do.
