Mountain

Our mountains are filled with rocks, trees, wildlife and endless fresh air. We like it this way - pristine, remote and beautiful. There are endless mountain activities in Nelson and area.

Get high up in the alpine for a unique blend of challenge, discovery and excitement. World class mountain biking trails wind through lush forests while gentle to gruelling hiking trails wrap along waterfront and alpine settings. Head underground into a world of hidden caves or soar above the trees on speedy ziplines. Multiple provincial parks and protected areas create the ultimate backdrop for outdoor recreation.

Kootenay Lake is the heart of the region, with 100's of tributaries spilling into the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers. The activities on the water range from paddling, rafting, sailing, to fishing  - high adrenaline to calm as can be. Exploring the roads around Kootenay Lake are inviting and picturesque. Ride low lying, quiet roads, or climb high into the mountains, you'll find what your heart desires. Stay responsible as you travel around, respecting and appreciating this amazing destination.
